Laurel is a Brooklyn bakery by the renowned duo behind Place des Fêtes and Oxalis.
Bread-making at Laurel is centered around growth: making small but critical adjustments every day to ultimately create a product that nears perfection, the process paired down to the bare essentials in terms of ingredients and information – no distractions, no fuss.

This is translated visually with a minimal aesthetic, inspired by Japanese and Scandinavian design principles: monochromatic color palettes, open layouts, crisp typefaces. Color and texture are introduced through our illustration of the bakery’s namesake: the laurel leaf. Our clients being Northern Californian, we sourced Laurel leaves from the area and scanned them with a risograph technique, bringing at beautiful and layered mark to the center of our brand exercise.
