Nasrin
New York, NY
In her family’s kitchen in Tehran, Chef Nasrin faithfully absorbed secret recipes and delicate skills from her grandmother and mother. In 2014, she fled her country and made her journey to New York by way of Turkey. After a rough arrival period, Nasrin worked at Eat Offbeat, a catering kitchen that employs refugees. There, she was able to exchange with fellow immigrant cooks from around the world and participated in the first NY edition of the Refugee Food Festival, organized by the U.N. Refugee Agency.
Ever since, Nasrin has been on a mission to show the depth of Iranian food, that it so much more than kebabs and rice, and send a message to others like her who migrate here, that they too can write their own story. Our studio Polonsky & Friends has been humbled to assist Nasrin on her business development, from brand messaging to graphic design and more.
